Buying used hockey skates can be an excellent way to get a decent pair of skates without paying full
price. In general there is a large market for buying and selling used skates.
That said, please keep the following in mind when deciding between new and used.
Firstly, after wearing a new pair of hockey skates for a certain amount of time that skate's boot
technically moulds to fit your foot. For a used skate, depending on how much it has been worn by it's
previous owner the skate may already be moulded and thus slightly customized to their feet. The
difference isn't normally significant, but may not give you the optimal snug fit that is best
condusive to good skating.
The next consideration is the shape of the blades. You can expect to have to sharpen them when you
get your used skates, but the bigger concern is the age of a blade. A blade can typically only handle
so many sharpenings.
