Skate sizes differ depending on the manufacturer, but are typically smaller than the size you are
accustomed to wearing in regular shoes. This is to make sure that you have a boot that snugly fits
your foot, leaving little room for actual movement of your feet inside the boot.
Sizing guide
Bauer: One size smaller than normal shoe size
CCM: 1 1/2 sizes smaller than normal shoe size
Easton: 1 1/2 sizes smaller than normal shoe size
Mission: Same as normal shoe size
Sherwood: One size smaller than normal shoe size
Tour: One size smaller than normal shoe size
In some situations, hockey players will choose even smaller sizes so that they get an even snugger
fit.
Some skates can additionally have a letter in their sizing. A D is seen as the regular size for the
typical skater, EE is meant for wider feet. C (for narrow feet) and EEE for (exceptionally wide) also
exist.
